Amberg,
a location with tradition and charm

Amberg has a long tradition as the location for a foundry. As early as 1270, iron ore was mined here. 600 years later a blast furnace works was established, heralding in the era when iron ore was processed on the spot. Amberg and Luitpoldhütte are thus closely connected with each other.

Amberg, a town with some 40,000 inhabitants and a splendid medieval town centre, is situated 65 kilometres both from Nuremberg and Regensburg. Amberg is in South Germany, in north-east Bavaria and, to be more precise, in the province called the Upper Palatinate.

As a result of the outstanding infrastructure, the dense and extensive motorway network, all the important transportation routes can be reached quickly and conveniently.

Getting to Luitpoldhütte

Luitpoldhütte in Amberg can be easily reached by various modes of transport. Nuremberg Airport is about 45 minutes away; from Munich Airport it will take you just under two hours by car.

If you're coming by car from the north or the west, take the A 6 Heilbronn - Nuremberg - Amberg motorway, exit Amberg West (exit 65), then follow the B 299 in the direction of Amberg.

At the first exit (it says "Amberg Stadtmitte") stay on the B299 and drive straight on till you get to the first set of traffic lights, where you turn right. Turn right at the next two traffic lights into Sulzbacher Straße, where you drive about 1 kilometre to the main gate, Tor 1, of Luitpoldhütte, at Sulzbacher Straße 121.

Coming from the south on the A 93 Regensburg - Weiden motorway, take the Schwandorf Nord exit and follow the B 85 in the direction of Amberg. Staying on this main road, drive straight on into the town of Amberg until you get to a roundabout. Turn off the roundabout first right, stay on this road till you get the 5th set of traffic lights, where you turn right towards Sulzbach-Rosenberg. You are now on Sulzbacher Straße, where you drive about another 2 kilometres to the main gate, Tor 1, of Luitpoldhütte, at Sulzbacher Straße 121.
